Fundraising letter for my month in the West Bank

Dear Friends,

For the month of April I am planning to work with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.  I also plan to do some work with Machsom Watch (the Israeli women’s group that monitors the checkpoints for human rights abuses), as well as to attend the two-day 5th annual Bi’lin Conference on Popular Resistance in late April. I want to share my plans with you because, as my friends and colleagues, you have been a source of support to me in the past.  Given the seriousness of this endeavor, I’m asking for your help now.

The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is a Palestinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land using nonviolent, direct-action methods and principles. Founded by a small group of activists in August, 2001, ISM aims to support and strengthen the Palestinian popular resistance by providing the Palestinian people with two resources, international protection and a voice with which to nonviolently resist an overwhelming military occupation force.
